2018 RP1 and RP2 Mixed Case (6 x 750mls)

$ 225.00

A Mixed Case of our 2 new release 2018 vintage wines including 3 bottles of the 2018 RP1 white blend and 3 bottles of the 2018 RP2 red blend. We believe the two ‘Marli Russell by Mount Mary’ wines from 2018 are the strongest we have made under this label to date.

Our RP1 white blend is very much set in a leaner, lighter framework than what is typical of these varieties when grown in warmer regions. Stylistically it is of the same vein as other Mount Mary white wines.

This RP2 red blend includes all four red varieties from our Marli Russell plantings being Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvedre and Cinsault. A wine of elegance, with beautiful mid palate fruit sweetness combined with savoury attributes and fine grain tannin.

Case Includes

3 x 2018 RP1 (750mls)

3 x 2018 RP2 (750mls)

RP1 Tasting note
45% Marsanne, 45% Roussanne, 10% Clairette

This wine shows beautiful floral aromatics. It is dominated by crisp just ripe pear (thanks to the Roussanne) whilst the Marsanne brings in riper melon and honeyed aromatics. The palate is crisp and tight at this point in time but with more than adequate concentration and flavour. We anticipate this wine will develop more richness, spice and nuttiness with time in bottle, developing into something quite special for those with patience!

RP2 Tasting note

55% Grenache, 20% Shiraz, 20% Mourvedre, 5% Cinsault

This wine has a striking bright, vibrant hue when first poured into the glass. The nose is bursting with small red berry aromas and spice. It quickly draws you back in for another look as it slowly reveals it’s many layers of complexity. On the palate there are raspberries, strawberries, cherries and spice. The palate is medium bodied, elegant and refined but with great concentration and length of flavour. Whilst not necessarily needing time to age, we suspect it will flesh out even further over the coming years.
