The 2017 RP2 (red blend) is showing loads of complexity, courtesy of a beautiful cooler climate spice and savoury edge that runs through the wine and combines so well with bright primary fruit. The 2017 vintage was a rather cool vintage proving to be the first real test as to whether we were going to ripen these late season varieties on our site in cooler years. As a result it is perhaps a slightly leaner, lighter wine than both the previous 2016 and 2015 releases.

55% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 20% Shiraz, 5% Cinsault There is an array of fruit present on the nose including poached strawberry, cherries, redskin, and spice. The palate is light to medium bodied but shows so much persistence and length. There is a very fine line of tannin through the spine of this wine offering some structure and giving it a savoury edge. Whilst this wine is ready to be drunk and enjoyed immediately we believe it will continue to improve over the next 5-10 years. |
